Just Tell Us Where to Start: Career Guidance Session for humanities students

At this event 65 students brought with them questions that were simple, honest, and impossible to ignore:

What should I do?

How do I start earning?

Can someone guide me?

The audience was largely from non-technical backgrounds, with real strengths rooted in teaching, social media, writing, mentoring, and design, skills that carry enormous real-world value, yet had never been framed that way for them.

Family responsibilities and limited access to technology added practical weight to an already difficult landscape, making the need for beginner-friendly, straightforward earning models all the more urgent.

The session explored accessible pathways across tutoring, content writing, and social media, while also making space for conversations around confidence and communication.

AI tools tailored for non-technical students and peer mentorship circles emerged as ideas that genuinely energised the room.

One student summed up the feeling perfectly: "No one ever told us where to start, that is all we needed."

Over two hours, the session moved from quiet helplessness to real, tangible direction, reminding everyone present that the starting point they had been searching for was closer than they thought.
