Capable but Unconfirmed: Building Career Confidence Among Science and Agriculture Students

62 students arrived with a seriousness of purpose that set this session apart, a room full of students from Agriculture and Biotechnology majors, not just curious but already leaning toward structured exploration.

Their interests spanned a remarkable range: social media, content creation, storytelling, photography, writing, art, dance, singing, and design - painting a picture of a generation far more multidimensional than their degrees suggest. Demand for AI tools and online earning was high, and students were drawn to low-barrier entry points like teaching juniors, content writing, and freelance gigs.

Yet beneath all that readiness, one bottleneck kept resurfacing.

The biggest challenge in the room was not capability, it was confidence.

Students knew what they wanted; they simply hadn't yet been told that they were already equipped to pursue it.

One student quietly admitted: "I have the skills. I just don't believe in them yet."

The session worked to change exactly that, affirming existing strengths, mapping practical pathways, and helping a room full of capable young people walk out believing that beginning was not as far away as it felt.
