Beyond the Household: Helping Women Recognize and Turn Everyday Skills into Economic Opportunity

47 women gathered for a community enablement session that opened up a different kind of conversation: not about what new skills they needed to learn, but about recognizing the value of skills they already had.

Participants brought deeply rooted, everyday abilities such as cooking, dancing, teaching, stitching and tailoring, reading, beauty, and makeup. These skills already carried value within their homes and communities, but many participants had never considered how they could translate them into broader economic opportunities.

The gap was not talent or motivation. It was confidence, digital awareness, guidance, and a pathway to get started. Most participants had limited exposure to social media marketing, content creation, digital teaching, or freelancing.

The session explored how women can identify their strengths, position their skills, use digital tools to reach wider communities, and take their first steps toward greater economic independence.

The goal was simple: help women recognize that opportunity can begin with skills they already have, wherever they are.
